Girls water polo team powers past Central in rivalry clash

The Lincoln-Way West girls' water polo team secured a 10-6 victory over their rivals, Lincoln-Way Central, on Tuesday night. This win highlights the Warriors' increasing strength in the sport.

According to the team's performance, junior attacker Joey Roedl led with a hat trick, while Olivia Senesac, Lilyth Swallow, and Isabella Shenberger each contributed a goal. The Warriors demonstrated confidence and precision in their offensive strategy, effectively challenging the Knights from the outset.

Defensively, Grace Brown played a pivotal role as goalie, achieving 13 crucial saves and preventing multiple scoring attempts by Central. Head coach Eric Pavlacka commended his team's performance and determination. "Our girls came out fired up and focused," Pavlacka said. "They played smart, aggressive water polo and didn’t let up. It was a total team effort."

This victory signifies progress for the Warriors as they continue to gain momentum in what appears to be a promising season. Their combination of effective passing, strong defense, and exceptional goaltending proved formidable against Lincoln-Way Central.

Lincoln-Way West is scheduled to compete again later this week.
