Lincoln-Way West secured a decisive 15-2 victory over Riverside-Brookfield in a non-conference baseball game on Friday afternoon.
According to the game report, the Warriors established an early lead when Peyton Globke hit a three-run home run in the first inning. Lincoln-Way West continued their offensive momentum with five additional runs in the second inning, featuring a two-run double by Conor Essenburg and RBI hits from Michael Pettit, Anthony Vita, and Ian Hazelip. In the sixth inning, they further extended their lead with a seven-run surge. Jackson Mansker contributed with a run-scoring double, Hazelip drove in four runs with a single, and Essenburg added another two-run double.
Ben Joynt was credited with the win for Lincoln-Way West after pitching 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out one batter and walking three. Luke Gouty completed the game with a flawless inning of relief. Essenburg led the Warriors' offense by going 3-for-4 with four RBIs. The team amassed 11 hits and drew eight walks while maintaining error-free defense. Owen Weber excelled defensively with five chances.
Riverside-Brookfield's Aiden Pankros allowed 10 runs (eight earned) over 5 2/3 innings. Campbell drove in both of the Bulldogs' runs and went 2-for-3 at bat.
