Lincoln-Way West High School's girls varsity softball team was defeated by Lockport with a score of 4-1 in a Southwest Suburban Conference matchup on Friday afternoon. The game took place at Lincoln-Way West High School, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
With this loss, the Warriors' overall record fell to 19-11, and their conference play record dropped to 7-8. Lockport took an early lead and maintained control throughout the game, limiting Lincoln-Way West to just one run. Abby Brueggmann contributed the sole run for the Warriors, going 1-for-3 with an RBI.
According to reports from the game, Kaylea Armstrong and Jess Noga each delivered strong performances, both achieving 2-for-3 at-bats. Additionally, Reese Rourke, Reese Forsythe, Reese Cusack, and Molly Finn added hits for Lincoln-Way West.
Despite this setback, Lincoln-Way West remains focused on their postseason aspirations with only a few games remaining in their schedule. They are scheduled to play again on Wednesday in an away game against Lemont, with first pitch set for 4:30 p.m.
Lockport's victory improved its standing within the conference as they demonstrated effective pitching and defense that limited the Warriors' offensive efforts. Lincoln-Way West aims to recover as they conclude their Southwest Suburban Conference play next week.
