LWW shuts out Andrew to win regional title

Lincoln-Way West secured the Class 4A Regional Championship on Friday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over Victor J. Andrew High School, enhancing its season record to 23-11.

According to reports, pitcher Abby Brueggmann delivered a dominant performance for the Warriors, leading them to shut out the Thunderbolts and advance to the sectional semifinal. Brueggmann pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits and no walks while striking out three in seven scoreless innings.

The Warriors scored one run in each of the first two innings and maintained their lead throughout the game. Brueggmann also contributed offensively by going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Kaylea Armstrong mirrored this performance, finishing 2-for-3 and scoring once.

Madi Lukasik contributed by driving in a run and reaching base three times through two walks and a hit-by-pitch. Reese Rourke added an RBI, while Paige Seivert and Jess Noga each recorded a hit to bolster the offense.

Lincoln-Way West aims to continue its postseason success on Tuesday when it faces Lincoln-Way Central in the sectional semifinal. The game is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. at Lockport. The Warriors are striving for their first sectional title since 2019.
