Lincoln-Way West High School's girls' water polo team secured an 8-6 victory over Hinsdale Central on Thursday. The match was marked by a standout performance from senior Joey Roedl, who scored six of the team's eight goals.
According to the game report, Roedl's efforts were instrumental in driving the Warriors' offense from the start. Isabella Shenberger also contributed with two goals, aiding in the nonconference win.
In goal, Grace Brown played a crucial role for Lincoln-Way West, recording 16 saves and thwarting several key plays by Hinsdale Central. Her performance was particularly significant in maintaining control during the second half when Hinsdale Central attempted a comeback.
"Our girls played with intensity and poise on both ends," said Lincoln-Way West's coach. "Joey stepped up in a big way, and Grace was outstanding in goal. It was a complete team effort."
The victory improved the Warriors' season record to 10-4 as they prepare for an important phase of conference play. They aim to maintain their momentum in their upcoming home game on Tuesday as they refine their strategies ahead of postseason competition.
