Lincoln-Way West emerged victorious against Schaumburg with a 10-6 win in a girls' water polo match on May 8. The team displayed a strong offensive strategy and an impressive performance from their goalkeeper.
According to the match details, Joey Roedl led the Warriors by scoring four goals. Teammates Isabella Shenberger and Ellie Trench each contributed two goals, while Dana Dykshorn and Olivia Senesac added one goal apiece. Goalie Grace Brown was instrumental in defense, recording 13 saves, which helped the Warriors secure their lead in the second half after a competitive start.
"Our girls communicated well and stayed aggressive," head coach Eric Plavlacka said. "Grace came up big in goal, and we capitalized on key scoring opportunities." Plavlacka highlighted that it was a solid team effort with contributions from both ends of the pool. While Schaumburg kept the game close initially, Lincoln-Way West's ball movement and speed in transition allowed them to build a comfortable lead after halftime.
The victory enhances the Warriors' momentum as they gear up for the postseason. Plavlacka noted the team's improvement throughout the season and commended the players for their focus and teamwork. "We’re playing our best water polo at the right time," he said.
