Warriors drop to .500 in conference after loss to East

Lincoln-Way West's varsity softball team was defeated by rival Lincoln-Way East with a score of 9-3 on Wednesday afternoon in a SouthWest Suburban Conference (SWSC) matchup.

According to the match report, the Warriors' record fell to 19-10 overall and 7-7 in SWSC play following the loss, which took place at Lincoln-Way West. The Griffins displayed a strong offensive performance, establishing an early lead and maintaining control throughout the game.

Reese Rourke led Lincoln-Way West at the plate, achieving 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Kaylea Armstrong also delivered a solid performance, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Despite the defeat, Lincoln-Way West received offensive contributions from several players. Reese Cusack, Reese Forsythe, Molly Finn, Paige Seivert, and Abby Brueggmann each recorded a hit. The Warriors will seek to recover on Friday when they travel to Lockport for another conference game. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Lincoln-Way East's victory continues their momentum in the SWSC standings as both teams advance toward the postseason.
