Lincoln-Way West secured third place in the WJOL Softball Tournament on Thursday with a 3-1 victory over Lockport Township, improving their season record to 8-1.
According to the team's performance report, Warriors pitcher Reese Rourke led the effort by pitching a complete game. She allowed one earned run on four hits, walked one batter, and struck out four over seven innings. The offense supported her with key contributions from players like Reese Forsythe, who went 1-for-2, hitting a home run and scoring once. Abby Brueggmann added to the team's success at the plate by finishing 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Jess Noga executed a successful squeeze bunt to drive in an important run.
The win followed Lincoln-Way West’s earlier tournament efforts and capped off a strong showing in the annual event. Forsythe, Noga, and Rourke were each named to the WJOL All-Tournament Team for their performances throughout the tournament.
With this victory, Lincoln-Way West continues their early-season momentum as they look ahead to upcoming games. With a solid pitching staff and timely hitting, they have emerged as contenders to watch in the local softball scene this spring.
