Lincoln-Way West maintained its undefeated record on Tuesday with a decisive 13-2 win over Joliet West in the opening round of the WJOL Softball Tournament.
The Warriors, now boasting a 7-0 record, demonstrated strong offensive capabilities and a well-rounded team performance both at bat and on the mound. Senior Reese Cusack led the team offensively, achieving a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBIs, three runs scored, and three stolen bases.
According to reports, Reese Forsythe also contributed significantly to the team's offensive success. She finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs, three runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base. Paige Seivert added to the power display with her own 2-for-3 performance that included a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Reese Rourke supported the effort by going 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored, and three stolen bases.
Abby Brueggmann excelled both at bat and on the mound. She went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, one run scored, was hit by pitch once, and stole two bases. In her pitching role, she delivered five innings of work allowing only two hits without any earned runs while striking out eight batters to secure the win.
Lincoln-Way West is scheduled to continue its participation in the WJOL Tournament with a doubleheader on Thursday at the Inwood Athletic Complex.
