Lincoln-Way West commenced its 2025 boys' volleyball season with a victory against Plainfield North, securing a 2-1 win with scores of 16-25, 25-22, and 25-21.
Following an unsteady first set, the Warriors regained their footing and displayed energy and composure to outlast the Tigers in the subsequent sets. This triumph marked their first win of the season. The team's success was attributed to collective efforts, with notable performances from senior libero Andrew Flores, who led defensively with 15 digs, adding an ace and a kill. Outside hitter Hunter Vedder contributed significantly to the offense with 11 kills, two blocks, and one ace.
Colin Dargan and Drew Kregul each added seven kills; Dargan also recorded three blocks, three digs, and an ace. Ferree facilitated the offense with a game-high of 28 assists and four digs. Aidan Kettelson contributed two assists as well.
Defensively, Colin Baikie made eight digs while also recording two kills and an ace. In the middle position, David Neylon posted three kills and four blocks; Mason Thompson added two kills and a dig.
The coaching staff praised the Warriors for their resilience and depth in overcoming early challenges to secure control of the match. "This was a total team win," said the coaching staff. "Everyone contributed in a big way."
Lincoln-Way West aims to maintain its unbeaten record when it hosts Plainfield East for its home opener on Wednesday night. With confidence building from this initial victory, the Warriors are poised for what appears to be a promising season ahead.
