The Warriors softball team earned a 4-1 win over Shepard on Thursday, improving their season record to 15-7.
Senior pitcher Abby Brueggmann was dominant in the circle, throwing a complete game. She allowed just four hits and one earned run while striking out nine. Brueggmann also reached base at the plate, finishing 1-for-2 with a hit-by-pitch.
Reese Rourke led the Warriors’ offense, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored. Fellow standout Reese Cusack added to the scoring effort, going 2-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base.
Molly Finn contributed with a walk and an RBI, helping the Warriors build a lead they would not relinquish.
The Warriors capitalized on early scoring opportunities and relied on Brueggmann’s strong pitching to hold off any comeback attempt from Shepard.
With the win, the team builds momentum heading into its next matchup. The Warriors return to action Friday for Senior Day, hosting Homewood-Flossmoor at 4:30 p.m. The game will recognize graduating players and cap off a busy week of competition.
First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. at home.
