Lincoln-Way West secured a 6-3 victory over Bradley-Bourbonnais in a varsity baseball game on Thursday afternoon.
According to the game details, the Warriors began strongly in the top of the first inning, highlighted by a solo home run from Conor Essenburg and an RBI double from Anthony Vita. Essenburg contributed significantly by going 2-for-3 at the plate and drawing two walks, leading an offense that demonstrated strong plate discipline with a total of 10 walks.
Michael Pettit earned the win for Lincoln-Way West. The left-handed pitcher allowed six hits and three runs—two of which were earned—over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out four batters and issued one walk. Vita closed the game to secure the save. On Bradley-Bourbonnais' side, Liam Martin was charged with the loss after giving up four runs—only one earned—over four innings, along with six walks.
Quinten Lange, Essenburg, and Pettit each drew two walks during the victory. For Bradley-Bourbonnais, Kason Bynum led by going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Mason Shaul and Sam Frey each drove in a run for their team.
Lincoln-Way West is scheduled to travel to face Riverside-Brookfield on Friday.
